An Audubon Important Bird Area (IBA) is a site providing essential habitat to one or more species of breeding or non-breeding birds. The sites vary in size, but are usually discrete and distinguishable in character, habitat, or ornithological importance from surrounding areas. Site boundaries may be either natural (rivers, watersheds) or human-made (roads, property boundaries).

The Audubon New York website has more information about the IBA program, including a listing of all IBAs in New York State.

Nearby IBAs include:

The New York State Bird Conservation Area Program was established in 1997 to safeguard and enhance bird populations and their habitats on State lands and waters.  The goal of the Bird Conservation Area (BCA) Program is to integrate bird conservation interests into Department of Environmental agency planning, management and research  projects.
